God uses everything we go through to reach people

As I have been sitting here in my home recovering from surgery I have been praising God and thanking Him for bringing me through with no complications.  God showed up in many ways during my hospital stay.  He first of all provided me with an excellent hospital that was very professional, friendly and efficient.  He then placed me in the hands of a wonderful physician. Then all the nurses and nurse’s aides were great.  My night nurse and my day nurse were true blessings.  Without any hesitation I highly recommend Baxter Regional Medical Center for any of your health care needs.  I also want to brag on my husband he was wonderful.  I have been blessed over and over again with him as a husband.

I don’t know if any of you stop and think about how God is going to use what you are going through as a witness to Him or not, but I had wondered about it a couple of times.  I had prayed and asked God to use Chris and I as a witness through this.  I knew it would help me not focus on my own pain and help speed my recovery.

I had my surgery which took longer than expected, they were not able to get me a room at first so I stayed in extended recovery and was given great care.  After I was placed in a room and was being thankful for the wonderful care I was receiving and was thankful all went well with my surgery, my husband and I got woke up at about 4:00 in the morning.  It was one of our children and they had something they were dealing with.  We instantly began to pray.  When you are in no position to be able to help you always can pray.  God is awake at all hours and He answers prayers 24/7.

Now, some of you may say where are you headed with this?  I thought you were going to show us God at work.  That is my point and I am getting to that.  I also want to point out that sometimes we forget that we have to handle everything that comes our way.  God will use every trial that we encounter to strengthen us.  God allows these things to happen because we have free will to choose to follow Him.  He doesn’t keep us in chains.  Our decisions and the world around us shape us and when we allow God to do the molding we will become perfect in His eyes, not man’s.

Just after my nurses changed shifts Chris went to have breakfast.  While he was gone my nurse came in and with everything I was dealing with I started crying and she didn’t hesitate she hugged me and started checking to see how she could help.  I briefly told her just prayer because of a family situation and she said she would and told me not to worry she understood and she shared a little about one of her children.  I told her we would be praying for the need.

Chris came back from breakfast and shared how God had blessed a lady through him in the cafeteria. As Chris was eating God said see that lady go tell her everything is going to be alright.  Chris said God I don’t know her.  God said go tell her everything is going to be alright.  Chris got up and disposed of his trash and approached the lady.  He said ma’am I know you don’t know me and I don’t know you or anything about what you are going through, but God wanted me to tell you that everything is going to be alright.  She told him that he didn’t know how much that meant.  She said she did have someone in the hospital, but they were fine, the problem was that her child, was suicidal and she was worried even though she had been praying.  They talked some and Chris told her we would pray for her and her child.  See how God touched that lady.

I then told Chris about my nurse and we automatically began to pray.  I’m not sure how long we prayed but near the end of our prayer we heard the door to my room open.  We continued to pray for another minute or so then we acknowledged whomever had entered and was waiting.  It was the doctor and he said that was an awesome prayer he first thought it was on television.  It was a witness to him for he too is a Christian and had only been in the area for a few months and had yet to find a church.  We shared how God was moving through us and was able to give God praise and glory.

God will use everything we go through to reach people in need.  He allows us to be a blessing to others which becomes a blessing to us.  All we have to do is always keep our eyes on Him and remember that God knows what is best if we leave it in His hands.  No matter the circumstances we are going through God knows what is best and it isn’t necessarily what we think is best.

This has brought a song I have sung in church many times to my mind.  The song is God will make this trial a blessing.  I have experienced this personally many times over the years and know that God will always turn my circumstances into blessings.

God will make this trial a blessing

by Terry Tidwell

Verse 1:

I’ve just come into a valley one like I’ve never been before.

I keep searching for a way out seems like pad locks are on the doors.

Oh there must be another sunrise another sunset that I’ll see.

God will make this trial a blessing that’s the love he has for me.

Verse 2:

I was not the first one to come into this place.

You see every child of God this test you must face.

It is here that God will mold you and make you what you ought to be.

God will make this trial a blessing just be patient you will see.

Verse 3:

Now I’m standing on a mountain looking back I can see.

When I was in that lowest valley his strong hand was leading me.

Oh it’s good to see the sunshine and to taste sweet victory.

God has made this trial a blessing oh the grace he gives to me.

Chorus:

God will make this trial a blessing though it sends me to my knees.

Though my tears flow like a river yet in him there’s sweet relief.

There’s no need to get discouraged there’s no need to talk defeat.

God will make this trial a blessing and the whole wide world will see.

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. Psalm 27:5(kjv)

Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand. Isaiah 64:8(kjv)
